»Elsa Steixner hypnotises.«
Die Presse
»Her substantial voice clings to your the ears from the very first encounter with her songs,« says the Austrian daily newspaper Die Presse about singer and songwriter Elsa Steixner. Born in Vienna, she founded the band ELSA in 2021 together with Jakob Lang (bass), Julian Bazzanella (keys) and Daniel Louis (drums) – she met Bazzanella and Louis while studying music at the ArtEZ Academy of the Music in the Netherlands. Although all four band members have a solid jazz education, their own music is not limited to one genre. The quartet’s sound moves confidently between art pop, singer-songwriter, blues and improvisational openness – a sound language that remains emotionally accessible without being predictable and is influenced by the jazz and soul music of African-American artists and the acoustic pop of the 1970s. The current ELSA album »JUMP!« is characterised by songs that move between catchiness and enigma, between intuition and musical finesse. ELSA have been on tour all over Europe and have already received several awards – including the Start Scholarship from the Federal Ministry of Music (AT), the Audience Award at the Avignon Jazz Festival (FR) and the Sparda Jazz Award (DE).

What others say:
»ELSA easily takes you by the hand through a multitude of emotions, from sorrow to exuberant joy, spanning a spectrum from introspection to wandering curiosity.«
