»Witty and honest«
Süddeutsche Zeitung
Christiane Rösinger is a musician, Kreuzberg resident and grandmother. From her point of view, it could go on like this forever, were it not for getting on a bit and having money worries. Getting older can’t be stopped, but in order to earn a bit of money, she decides to write a guide to ageing. Without illusions, but with power. An energetic call to stop putting up with the way society treats women who are no longer young. However, it’s not that easy to find a relaxed attitude to ageing, and of her female circle of friends neither the dog owner, the self-optimiser nor the one moving to the countryside is any good at serving as a positive role model. »The Joy of Ageing« is a sharply funny book full of memories, thoughts and stories. Teenagers and old people have things in common, says Christiane Rösinger: »We hang around, no longer contribute anything to the gross national product, I no longer have to please anyone.« And so her book ends with some serious advice: complain less, live more. Because being old means being free!
In the 1980s, Christiane Rösinger reached iconic status and was known far beyond the borders of West Berlin. Together with Almut Klotz and Funny van Dannen, she founded the Lassie Singers, sang in the band Britta, ran the Flittchen Records label and the legendary Flittchen Bar at Ostbahnhof. She is the award-winning author of numerous books, contributes to various daily newspapers and magazines and writes theatre plays. In 2019, her housing policy musical »Stadt unter Einfluss« premiered at Hebbel am Ufer, followed two years later by her feminist singspiel »Planet Egalia«. In »Die große Klassenrevue«, which premiered in 2023, Rösinger scrutinised today’s class relations and the play was nominated for the 2024 Theatertreffen. Christiane Rösinger is a winner of the »Rio Reiser Preis« of the Berlin Senate (2021) and the »Göttinger Elch« satire prize for special achievements in music, literature and social criticism (2025). She lives and works in Berlin. Christiane Rösinger will also be singing at her reading on the Seebühne, with guitarist Claudia Fierke as her musical partner.
