‘Immersive theatre reaches a whole new level.’
Financial Times
Henrik Ibsen’s play “A Doll’s House” is one of the most frequently performed plays in the world. As a representative of Scandinavian naturalism, the playwright attached great value to the precise and unsparing description of his protagonists, their actions and the environment in which they live. Ibsen demanded that theatre should be like “real” life, the actors like real people and the backdrop of a living room like a real living room. The Danish theatre group Fix & Foxy takes him at his word – and his demands to the extreme. They stage “A Doll’s House” as “the most realistic version ever” – with three actors and a real couple in their real home. To maintain the authenticity of the situation, there are no rehearsals and no preparations for the couple… “A Doll’s House” premiered in Oslo in 2014 and has since been shown in local versions in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, English and French in numerous European countries. Fix & Foxy have been producing theatre plays, performance art and immersive installations for almost 20 years. They have already wowed audiences at the asphalt Festival 2022 with their multi-award-winning Western “Dark Noon”.
