‘Blues rock poet with a raspy voice’
Deutschlandfunk
Jesper Munk has got the blues – but, in a really good way. The Berlin-based artist with German and Danish roots has been exploring various musical styles in recent years – and with great success. Starting as a blues newcomer who thrilled audiences right at the beginning of his career as Eric Burdon’s tour support, he developed into a hip vocalist before establishing himself as a seasoned singer-songwriter. More than 40,000 sold records and 36 million streams are impressive proof of his success. Now Jesper Munk is taking off again – with all his combined strengths. His recently released album “YESTERDAZE” is a delicate production between jazz and new wave, chanson, balladesque blues and plenty of soul that must warm the soul and heart of every indie aficionado. And his blues fans can rejoice, too – Jesper Munk, who according to Focus is ‘an outstanding talent not only by German standards’, is now playing classics from his early work live on stage again. He will be accompanied at the concert on the Seebühne by the Berlin music collective The Cassette Heads.

What the press say:
‘Germany’s best crooner‘
laut.de
‘Amazingly mature songs between Leonard Cohen and Prince, which never forget their funkiness. Terrific.’
Galore
‘Germany’s blues rock wonder boy’
Rolling Stone
‘What’s unusual about Munk is not only his young age, but also the fact that his voice sounds very old in contrast. It’s as if he gargles with stones or nails before his performances.’
Süddeutsche Zeitung
